UAWR Christmas Newsletter

This came from Courtney Hobson- it is re posted here with her permission.

To All Our Faithful Readers...

I want to take this time to say thank you to all of those who have been here to support UAWR through the years. We have had many ups and downs along with obstacles to conquer but together we all continue to conquer those obstacles. Without each and every one of you we could not have accomplished the things we have. Even if you only donated a little bit of time, or $10 dollars...however you were able to help, it is greatly appreciated and we continue to need you and your help as we move into a new year of helping the horses.

My position in rescuing is somewhat going to be taking a different position for the up and coming year in 2010. I am asking all of you to help me out in finding adoptive homes for the horses we have currently here at UAWR. As many of you have heard last week I was involved in a head-on auto accident where the oncoming car swerved into my lane and hit myself and my two kids head on. My kids are very banged up, bruised, scared, and emotional over the situation but over all it seems as if other then bruises they are both ok. Myself, on the other hand I am still saying THANK YOU Lord for watching over us as it could have been SOOO much worse being a head-on collision, but I have some BIG bruises and a dislocated and broken ankle. My ankle bone that is crushed is the Talus which is your major weight bearing bone of the foot. According to my doctor there are like 3 bones in the body you DON'T want to break and the Talus is one of them.

Again I am thankful to be alive but also looking at 6 months or more before I can walk again. Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Courtney Hobson - President - UAWR

UAWR Foster Care Program - We Need Your Help!

Become a foster parent of a horse residing at UAWR by joining our Foster Care Program. There are many benefits to becoming a foster parent:

1) This program allows both adults and children to bond to a horse of their choice for a period of time while they learn about horse care, grooming, feeding, and cost of ownership. This program is a worthy first step to horse ownership.

2) This program also allows someone the opportunity to have a horse without the initial financial burden of buying their own. 3) Provides someone to give the horse personal love, attention and exercise; and, 4) Helps support the financial needs of the horse. If you're not sure about whether you want another horse or any horse, consider fostering one or two. Even if you don't ride but you really enjoy taking care of horses, consider adopting or fostering a companion horse (or two). Also, our Sponsorship Program is available to individuals who want to make a difference but cannot adopt or foster. We also need people to work these horses and get them in shape for potential adoption homes. Under the Angel's Wings Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization - expenses such as feed, farrier care, etc., are tax deductible. For more information, please contact Courtney at: courtney@uawr.com or (951) 318-2275.

Horse of the Month
Willow is a 16 year old TB gelding who is available for adoption. He is approx 16.1 hands tall and loves trail rides and Dressage. He has been shown up to First Level and would like to find someone who would like to give him lots of love and attention. Sound and barefoot. Adoption fee lowered this month for Christmas to $1000. Willow is currently being fostered in Temecula Valley wine country. Contact Courtney for more info (951) 318-2275.

Need Of The Month
We are in need of dewormers again. Any kind will help! We need 21 of them.

Recently....

This past week I have been giving presentations to Sociology classes at Crafton Hills College. I hope we get some volunteers from the talks! The Sociology Club will be visiting on March 21st, so hopefully we can get it all set up and worked out... I know my being in Ohio for a week will make things a bit complicated but I'll take my laptop and keep working on the site, the blog, and new volunteers!

Excuse the Sawdust!

Courtney gave me the immense privilege of starting a website for the volunteers! I've been working on getting that running so that people can find the information they need. Please feel free to check it out, and check back because I'm still working!

Today, Sunday March 1st I will be at the Crafton Hills College Sociology Club meeting promoting UAWR and the work we do! There are plans to get a field trip going in April!

Please be patient while I get this all running, in the mean time check out Courtney's blog, the main UAWR Website, the UAWR Myspace page, & our volunteers myspace page.
